The ‘Memorial Hall fund’ opened in 1945 by the villagers of Hempton as a memorial to those lost in the war.

The hall is built on land leased from the Marquess Townshend.

The hall cost of £11,000, which was raised by selling the former Parish Hall land and committee fund raising (£4,144). However, it was still £300 short at the opening.

The hall was officially opened on 28th October 1972

The men who lost their lives are commemorated on the wall of the hall and the hall charity committee hold a minutes silence in a non-denomination service on Remembrance Sunday.
