Batterby Green is a road off of Shereford Road that was named after the previous owner of the land.

Clarence Wilson Batterby was born in Hempton in November 1912. He was baptised at Holy Trinity 26th Jan 1913 by George Smallpeice.

Clarence's parents George and Annie, owned the land before him. George described himself as a Small Holder in 1913 as the land was a Market Garden.

When Clarence sold the land, the houses were built in the early 1990.

Clarence died 1st October 2000
